This weekend I did my first 3 Gap/6 Gap ride in Dahlonega. I have never taken a bike out that that type of terrain, but I had a great time. It was during the ride that my brain started to ponder the question, "Are cyclists more friendly?"

I have been riding my bike and using MARTA for a little over 3 years now. What started as a way to exercise has turned into a way of life in regards to my commute to and from work (as well as other activities in my life.) But during those 3 years I have often questioned whether or not MARTA was supportive of cyclists. So I decided to do some research over the web and see how MARTA compare to other transit systems. The links to all the sites I used are at the end of the post.

Just a followup to my post concerning the 17th Street bridge and the bike lane.

1) I have been told that the DOT has blacked out the lane in question on the bridge - I will confirm that on Friday when I ride through.

2) As you know, I was ticketed for "failure to maintain my lane." and had a court date today August 6th. The judge dismissed the charges against me and the driver of the vehicle stating, "that this was a matter for the civil courts to decide, not the criminal court." So at least I did not get any points against my record.

All cyclists in the Atlantic Station Area

Be aware of the bike lane change / removal as you crossover the 17th St bridge leaving Atlantic Station toward Spring St and West Peachtree. Apparently the city or GaDOT have removed part of the bike lane as there is now 2 right turn lanes available for motorist to turn onto Spring.

The problem is that they did a poor job of removing the lane markers so you may think the lane still exists. And then they did not remove any of the lane markers going through the intersection itself. (See picture.)
