Register now for 2008 Share the Road ride

The popular Labor Day Share the Road Century Challenge ride is back for 2008 (register online today). Ride perks and quirks will include a Big Wheels Race for the kiddos, massages for weary riders at the finish line (donated by Massage Garage), and great SAG stops, goody bags, a silent auction with fantastic items, and sizzling pizza from Pizza Construction. Note: T-shirts guaranteed on day of ride with pre-registration by August 22nd.

First Atlanta Courteous Mass a slow success (updated)

Atlanta's first experiment with the idea of a more Courteous Mass was a slow, but successful ride. Slow because it takes a long time to get 103 riders through the many red lights downtown, and successful because there were 103 riders stopping at red lights! Check out this follow-up in the AJC or watch the video on 11 Alive news. And then answer this question - should we do it again?

Courteous Mass July 11

On Friday, July 11, cyclists will meet at Woodruff Park for a different kind of mass - Courteous Mass. Courteous Mass differs from Critical Mass in that it follows a planned route and all traffic laws. Courteous Mass is intended to demonstrate support for better bike facilities and safer traffic conditions, and is also a great opportunity for less-experienced cyclists to try riding on the streets and to just have fun. If you believe in a balanced transportation policy, join us!

The trip went great! I got in late on Friday night from a business trip to Florida followed by drinks with friends. Managed to pack up my camping gear, borrow a tent (mine's still not finished, I wish I'd had it though), and roll out of Decatur about 10am on Saturday morning. Good thing I didn't leave too early, the trip to Oxford wasn't as long as I'd expected.
