07.11 - COURTEOUS MASS

Jul 11 2008 - 6:30pm
Jul 11 2008 - 8:00pm

Courteous, n.

1. Characterized by courtesy and gracious good manners; "if a man be gracious and courteous to strangers it shows he is a citizen of the world" - Francis Bacon

Two Fridays after June's Critical Mass, there are plans to meet up for a "Courteous Mass."

Location: Woodruff Park

Time: arrive at 6 pm, leave park at 6:30 pm

Here are the guidelines:

• Everyone will ride no more than two abreast, only taking up the rightmost lane of traffic.

• Everyone will obey all other traffic laws as well, stopping at red lights and stop signs.

• No stopped cars will be passed on the right (unless there is a bike lane).

Video cameras are encouraged!

Let's see if we can turn out the kind of numbers that Critical Mass attracted last month (420!). There's so much interest in riding bikes right now, and it's important that new riders see how riding legally in traffic can help keep us all safe. And staying safe means more bike riding! Come on out and bring a friend who is new to cycling.
