ABC's sustainability commitments - cycling and recycling

in

When Executive Director Rebecca Serna wrote her end-of-year appeal last year, she took the opportunity to place the Atlanta Bicycle Campaign's commitment to environmental sustainability front and center. This photograph communicates two aspects of that commitment. The first is, not surprisingly, to cycling - specifically using our own bicycles wherever possible in the conduct of our business. The other, as demonstrated by the colorful cargo bags in the photo, is our commitment to reuse and recycle in our day-to-day operations.

For those interested, the trailer pictured here is a Bob Yak which belongs to ABC volunteer Marc Merlin. As you can see, it is particularly well suited for this kind of recycling trip. One like it would also be useful in helping to set up our booths at public events and festivals, transporting instructional materials to the various sites that host our Confident City Cycling classes and supporting rest stops at our fund-raising bike rides.

Since Marc's trailer is not always available for us to use for all these purposes, we are hoping that the manufacturer, Bob Gear, will see fit to help us out with a donation of one of our very own. We'll keep you posted about how that turns out.
