Atlanta Bicycle Campaign Delivers “Bagels for Bicycles” on Bike to Work Day
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:
Atlanta Bicycle Campaign Delivers “Bagels for Bicycles” on Bike to Work Day
On Friday, May 16 the Atlanta Bicycle Campaign offers “Bagels for Bicycles” to Atlanta bicycle commuters on National Bike to Work Day. From 7 to 9 a.m. at Edgewood and Bradley streets (near Thumbs Up Diner) free bagels, coffee and happy faces will greet bicyclists making their way to work, to a greener Atlanta, and to healthier lives.
Along with dozens of American communities, Atlanta Bicycle Campaign celebrates bicycling as a lean, green transportation alternative during National Bike Month and Bike to Work Week from May 12 to 16. From Juneau, Alaska to Grand Rapids, Michigan to Atlanta, Georgia bicycle commuters are getting extra consideration during the highlights of Bike Month - Bike to Work Week and Bike to Work Day.
Bike Month offers this special time to think prudently about the most energy efficient form of transportation ever invented. “May is designated Bike Month,” said Rebecca Serna, executive director of ABC, “because as the number of people riding bikes grows, the need for mutual awareness, caution, and respect grows exponentially.”
The week’s celebration of bicycling in Atlanta begins Wednesday, May 14 with BikeFest. In concert with the downtown TMA, BikeFest gives pedal-pushers - and those interested in cycling - a great way to spend their downtown lunchtime. Come to Woodruff Park on May 14 From 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. to learn what not to do from Charlie the Downtown Clown; see cycling demonstrations and learn about bike fit and repair from bicycle shops; and get information on bike safety and local resource - not to mention fun and great prizes.
As America goes green and summer approaches, more and more cyclists take to Atlanta’s roadways. Bike to Work Week encourages Atlantans to think about healthy and sustainable practices. Atlanta Bicycle Campaign encourages all drivers and cyclists to share the road safely and legally and to use this special month to focus on the future of a cleaner, more livable Atlanta.

Atlanta’s largest member-based bicycle advocacy organization, the Atlanta Bicycle Campaign advocates for better conditions for biking, provides Confident City Cycling classes that teach people to ride safely, offers programs to break down the barriers to cycling, educates drivers and cyclists on how to share the road, and strives to make Atlanta a bike-friendly, greener community.
