Bike MS cyclist rides atop billboard
Yesterday, an Atlanta cyclist rode his bike in an unusual location - atop a billboard. While ABC has two grant-funded "I'm on that bike" billboards, we never took it as far as the good people behind the Bike MS Cox Atlanta ride! This year, we are pleased to announce that the Atlanta Bicycle Campaign is developing a partnership with Bike MS as the ride's education partner. We look forward to developing a strong relationship that will help put more people on bikes while addressing this serious illness.
MS stops people from moving and impacts more than 8,500 Georgians. The Bike MS Cox Atlanta Ride (www.bikeMSatlanta.org) is a cycling event that raises more than $1.2M towards a cure for MS.
The Georgia Chapter of the National Multiple Sclerosis Society (NMSS) placed a live cyclist riding atop an Atlanta billboard during drive-time hours on Tuesday, July 22nd, in front of the Disco Kroger 3330 Piedmont Rd. to help raise awareness of multiple sclerosis, a disease affecting the central nervous system.
Taking place September 13th and 14th, riders from all over the country will cycle in the 22nd annual Bike MS Cox Atlanta Ride, with a goal of 1,500 riders and $1.2 million raised towards a cure for MS.
About Multiple Sclerosis: Multiple Sclerosis is a chronic, often disabling disease of the central nervous system. In MS, myelin that surrounds nerve pathways in the body begins to break down. This can distort or lock nerve messages. Primary symptoms may include weakness, fatigue, tremors, pain, paralysis, spasticity, and vision changes or loss. Diagnosis usually occurs between the ages of 20 and 50. Twice as many women as men are diagnosed with MS.
