Our annual goals

Our annual goals fall into four categories: advocacy, organization, programs, and safety.

Advocacy

  1. 3 Feet Safe Passing law for Georgia
  2. Hold Forum on Connect Atlanta proposed Bicycle Network
  3. Work with Atlanta City Council and state legislature to pass Connect
    Atlanta Bicycle Network along with dedicated funding for trunk of system
  4. Rid city of dangerous parallel grates
  5. Rid city of dangerous out of use railroad crossings

Organization

  1. 1,000 members by 2009
  2. BeltLine Bike Tour launch
  3. Move to new office space
  4. Create new ABC Website 2.0: atlantabike2.org
  5. Rebrand Effective Cycling as Confident City Cycling
  6. Achieve greater awareness of organization and higher media profile

Programs

  1. Data:
    • Bike crash map and mapping tool
    • Bike rack survey
    • Online map of bike racks and integrate into A-Train Trip Planner
    • Update bicycle suitability maps
  2. Bike Buddies program (partner with ARC and Bike Emory)
  3. Bike sharing proposal for Atlanta
  4. Opportunities for building community:
    • Monthly Commuter Breakfast
    • Monthly Bike Happy Hour
    • Bike Lecture series

  1. Lower crash and fatality rates among cyclists in metro Atlanta
