Spotting Jimmy Carter

So yesterday, while biking home on the PATH, I passed President Jimmy Carter, also on a bicycle. I didn't recognize him at first (he had sunglasses and a helmet on), but as I passed him, I smiled, he said "hello," and well, that voice is fairly unmistakeable. The fact was confirmed shortly thereafter by the Secret Service agent on bicycle right behind him, followed by a large black SUV, that hopped right up onto the PATH to follow the President.
Which leads us to ask....what kind of bicycle does Jimmy Carter ride? (I was too awestruck to notice.) And is he interested in being celebrity endorser of the Atlanta Bicycle Campaign?

Update on Carter's Bicycle

As I got several questions about what bicycle President Carter was riding, I emailed the Carter Center Library to see if they could find out. Here's their response:
"Sorry it took so long to answer you but we had to check with President Carter's office. The bicycle is a Specialized Globe. It was a gift from Outback Bikes in Little 5 Points."
That's what I ride!

Last I heard he and his wife both ride Rivendell bicycles.

Serendipity: the phenomenon of finding valuable or agreeable things not sought for.

This, in itself, is enough of a reason to be out on a bike. See Rebecca's post, Why I love red lights, as another example.

Sara, great post! I read an article not too long about about Jimmy Carter biking through Plains, GA, and driving his secret service detail a little bit crazy in the process.
